This class will be devoted to types of resist-sandblasting. In this class we will use computer-generated or computer-enhanced images to make photomasks we will apply to the glass. We will apply these masks to a number of different types of prep and finish the class with the technique known as graal. Graal is a Swedish word and refers to the process of creating a glass blank of layered colors, etching through the layers to create imagery, and then re-heating and sleeving the blank before forming it into the final piece. A minimum of one year’s experience is required to take this class. Limited to ten students total.
Tuition includes all materials, all meals, and a torch station for the duration of the class. A change this year from previous years is that we can only accommodate five students lodging. This is due to legal and insurance issues. Students will therefore have the option of paying $150 less and find their own accommodations. We will supply a list of local motels and air bnbs. When you sign up, please indicate your preference.
